Honduras | Avanza Café

In Lepaera, more than 230 producers from Honduras participated in the presentation of the Avanza Café program in alliance with INLOHER. Avanza Café is an initiative promoted by JDE Peet’s, USDA and TechnoServe to empower more than 35 thousand coffee producers from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua to adopt regenerative agriculture practices, reduce carbon emissions and strengthen climate resilience.

Zeke Bryant, USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), together with the Manager of the MOCCA Nicaragua Coffee Program and technical team, visited coffee producers in Jinotega to closely observe the impacts of the program on Nicaragua’s coffee-growing communities.

Central America | Great news for sustainable coffee!

JDE Peet’s, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food for Progress Program, and international non-profit TechnoServe have launched a new initiative, Avanza Café. This program funded by a $15.3 million investment, will introduce regenerative agriculture techniques aimed at improving coffee farm productivity in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, while also reducing the carbon footprint of coffee production and strengthening climate resilience in coffee-growing communities.

Peru | Renovation of coffee plantations

MOCCA participated in a press conference with the National Coffee Board, to share experiences, technical and financial challenges in the renovation of coffee plantations in Peru. The National Coffee Board promotes an initiative to renovate 50 thousand hectares of coffee in Peru.
