MOCCA Consortium

A nonprofit organization operating in 29 countries, TechnoServe is a leader in harnessing the power of the private sector to help people lift themselves out of poverty. By linking people to information, capital and markets, TechnoServe has helped millions to create lasting prosperity for their families and communities. TechnoServe is the MOCCA Consortium Leader, and is directly leading initiatives within the coffee value chain.

Lutheran World Relief is an international nonprofit that tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being. They provide aid in emergencies and partner with communities to build and grow rural economies. Lutheran World Relief leads MOCCA’s cacao activities in all target countries.

World Coffee Research is a precompetitive, multi-stakeholder platform that enables the global coffee industry to invest in advanced agricultural R&D to transform coffee producing into a profitable, sustainable livelihood that can meet rising demand while also safeguarding natural resources. WCR uses advanced and applied research in coffee genetics and agronomy to create new varieties, agronomic approaches, and market opportunities for farmers to become more resilient and profitable, especially in the face of significant threats like climate change. WCR’s technology pipeline delivers solutions, including new varieties, that address major threats to global supplies of quality coffee and that improve profitability for coffee farmers. WCR research is executed in partnership with leading scientists and institutions in producing countries and around the world. WCR will lead MOCCA’s nursery, and research and dissemination activities in coffee.

ISF Advisors is committed to transforming rural economies by delivering partnerships and investment structures that promote financial inclusion for rural enterprises and smallholder farmers. ISF leads MOCCA’s endeavors to design and implement sustainable long-term financing mechanisms that support smallholder rehabilitation and renovation of coffee and cocoa plantations in the target countries.

Bioversity International is a global research-for-development organization that delivers scientific evidence, management practices and policy options to use and safeguard agricultural and tree biodiversity to attain sustainable global food and nutrition security. Bioversity supports MOCCA cacao initiatives, including research and quality standards.

Rikolto (formerly VECO/Vredeseilanden) is an international NGO with more than 40 years’ experience in partnering with farmer organisations and food chain stakeholders across Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Rikolto empowers farmer groups to become solid business partners and implement future-proof, sustainable practices, supporting them to meet quality standards, and connecting them with innovators in the food industry to explore new ways of doing business. Rikolto supports MOCCA’s cacao initiatives in Ecuador.
